Welcome to Sook's Shouk.
When I was little my dad nicknamed me Sook (to rhyme with Look). I have no idea why. I am just eternally grateful he didn't carry through with his threat to call me "ShaPoopy" (from a song about a "girl that's hard to get" from my parents' favorite musical, The Music Man).
When I went to Israel I found out that an open air market is called a "Shouk". This is a picture of the shouk in Jerusalem -- a crazy, bustling place full of deliciousness, a timeless whirl of multi-cultural mercantilism. So in thinking about doing a little web shopping area for this site, the alliterative name "Sook's Shouk" jumped out at me.

I designed the logo and I plan on buying a coffee mug with it for my own morning cuppa joe. Let me know if you want one, too. I can put it on a white ceramic coffee mug right now, later I might graduate to T-shirts. I did a pink version and a rainbow version, too.
